EPIC’s ‘Fire Regulations for buildings with a storey above 18 metres’ guidance paper aims to cover how the fire performance of building elements can be affected by many factors, including the overall design and the interaction of the different products they are composed of.
There are several routes to compliance within the regulatory requirements for the façades of buildings that have habitable storeys 18 metres and higher, and these routes are designed to minimise the potential risk to human occupants of buildings.
The guide briefly explains the linear route, the performance route, the fire safety engineering route, and performance route (Desktop Studies).
Further guidance will be published following the ‘Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety‘ report by Dame Judith Hackitt by spring 2018.
