What are the insurer fire test standards for insulation panels?

The insurer standards guidance paper aims to inform construction professionals of the most common insurer standards for testing the fire performance of external panels.

Insurer standards are primarily loss prevention standards used by the insurance industry to prioritise property protection. As a result, the tests used focus on the economic impact of fire, weather damage, or other damage-causing events to assist specifiers and building professionals.

This guide will cover two test standards:

  • LPS 1181 from the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB).
  • FM 4880 from FM Global.
